Maersk run 1 ocean freight sailings a week from Cat Lai to Alexandria. Published transit times range from 31 to 38 days. That does not include cargo preparation, customs clearance or inland haulage in Egypt.

There is no direct service. The Maersk schedule checked on 06/10/2026 shows two transshipments, at Tanjung Pelepas and then Port Said East. Sailings from Cai Mep to the same destination use the same two transshipment ports.

Out of Cat Lai, Maersk takes cargo at Cat Lai or an ICD, then moves it to a deep-water port to load onto the mother vessel. The schedule runs from the pick-up point, not from the deep-water port. Keep that in mind when you compare sailings.

The booking must name the correct discharge terminal, so ask your consignee which one they use before you book.

Maersk had no sailings to Sokhna (Red Sea) in the 8 weeks checked. The schedule gives no reason, so no conclusion can be drawn about this port. If your cargo needs to reach Sokhna, ask us to check further schedules.

Egyptian importers must have an ACID on Nafeza before cargo is loaded onto the vessel. The exporter checks the CargoX account and sends documents through it. The invoice, packing list, draft B/L, HS code and party details must match exactly, character for character.

The deadline for sending the final document set is a separate matter and does not mean the ACID has been approved. Ask the importer and the carrier which deadline applies to your shipment.

GOEIC requires registration of the factory or brand owner, but only for regulated product groups. The importer should check the product, the HS code and whether the registration is still valid.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade list (MOIT VNTR), Vietnam and Egypt have no FTA in force at present. That means zero duty cannot be promised. The buyer should check the duties that apply by HS code and the origin documents required.
