Sailings, origin and destination
Maersk's current schedule for this lane shows two transshipments, first at Tanjung Pelepas and then at Port Said East. Transit takes 40 to 45 days, with 1 sailings a week operated by Maersk. These figures are port to port. They exclude cargo preparation, customs clearance and inland haulage.
Cargo departs from CMIT at Cai Mep, not Cat Lai. Trucks must deliver containers to CMIT for gate-in. Check the terminal and CY on the booking, along with the cut-off for SI and VGM. At the destination, AICT operates two separate terminals, Alexandria and El Dekheila, so the booking must name the right discharge terminal.
ACID and documents before loading
The Egyptian importer must hold an ACID on Nafeza before cargo is loaded. The exporter should check its CargoX account and send documents through it. The invoice, packing list, draft B/L, HS code and party details must match word for word. Submitting the final document set is a separate step and does not mean the ACID has been approved. Ask the importer and the carrier which deadline applies to your shipment.
GOEIC, duties and origin
GOEIC requires registration of the factory or brand owner, but only for regulated product categories. The importer should check the product, the HS code and whether the registration is still valid. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's list (MOIT VNTR), Vietnam and Egypt have no FTA in force. Zero duty cannot be promised. Buyers should check duties by HS code, along with the origin documents required.
Sokhna, Alexandria and schedule risk
Sokhna sits on the Red Sea, Alexandria on the Mediterranean. The Maersk schedule we checked shows no sailing to Sokhna. That does not prove the port is closed or that every carrier has stopped calling, and a schedule does not explain why. A call at Port Said does not mean the vessel transits the Suez Canal, so ask the carrier for the actual routing. For Tet, Ramadan and Eid, plan around factory and consignee holidays. Do not assume a fixed seasonal delay.
Destination charges and how Homexim helps
Ask for a quote that itemizes every charge that applies: THC, D/O, storage, DEM/DET and free time, clearance and inspection, and inland transport. Storage, container detention and duties are separate charges. Who pays depends on the Incoterms and the contract.
Homexim handles FCL and LCL, export clearance and trucking in Vietnam. Each shipment gets a dedicated contact, and quotes break out every charge. Import clearance in Egypt is handled by the consignee or its agent. For a quote, send the HS code and cargo type, container count or CBM, cargo-ready date and destination terminal.
